Botanical Name: Acacia senegal
Also Known As: gum acacia, meska
General Info: Comes from the sap of several species of African Acacia trees.
Uses: A water soluble gum, it is used as a thickener, stabilizer and emulsifier in foods. Acacia gum is used in a variety of products ranging from ink to ice cream. Acacia gum forms strings when combined with cherry extract. Also used to make water color paints and incense.
Medicinal Properties: In herbal medicine, the gum is used to bind pills and lozenges and to stabilize emulsions. It is also used to produce a medium for applying essential oils, balsams, resins, camphor, and musk.
Magical Uses & Associations: In magic is may be used for protection, money, love, friendship, psychic and spiritual growth, and also in meditations.
